Realm Realtime has announced the launch of two new premium tracking capabilities designed to improve shipment visibility for freight forwarders: Marine Tracking and Flight Tracking. The new features aim to help logistics teams monitor global shipments more efficiently while reducing manual tracking and improving communication with customers.

Freight forwarders often face increasing pressure to provide accurate, real-time updates on shipments moving across multiple ports, airports, and transport legs. Delays, schedule changes, and unexpected early arrivals can make it difficult to maintain visibility across the supply chain.

One common issue occurs when vessels arrive earlier than expected at port. Without timely notifications, shipments may sit waiting to be collected or processed, resulting in unnecessary storage fees, demurrage, or additional port charges. Similarly, operations teams frequently spend significant time manually checking carrier websites and tracking systems to answer customer enquiries about shipment status.

The new tracking features introduced by Realm Realtime are designed to address these challenges by providing a single platform for monitoring both sea and air movements in real time.

Marine Tracking

The Marine Tracking feature enables freight forwarders to monitor sea voyages from origin to destination using an interactive 2D map or 3D globe. Users receive multiple daily updates on vessel position, speed, course, and navigational status.

Forwarders can track multi-leg port-to-port journeys and receive automated notifications when vessels depart, approach ports, arrive, or experience delays. Updated estimated arrival times (ETAs) and delay status help operations teams respond quickly and avoid unnecessary costs caused by missed arrivals.

The feature also allows companies to share shipment visibility with customers through the Realm Realtime Customer Portal, providing greater transparency across the supply chain.

Flight Tracking

The new Flight Tracking capability offers similar visibility for global air freight movements. Users can track multi-leg flights worldwide through a visual map or 3D globe and access real-time data including position, speed, altitude, and flight path.

Notifications can be configured for key milestones such as departure, final approach, landing, arrival at terminal, and delays. These updates help freight forwarders stay informed about shipment movements and proactively communicate with customers.

Improving Visibility and Efficiency

By bringing marine and flight tracking together in one platform, Realm Realtime aims to help freight forwarders improve operational efficiency and reduce the need for manual tracking.

Real-time updates and automated alerts allow logistics teams to respond quickly to disruptions or early arrivals while giving customers direct access to shipment updates through the Customer Portal.

As supply chains continue to become more complex and customer expectations for visibility increase, tools that provide real-time tracking across multiple transport modes are becoming increasingly important for freight forwarders.

Realm Realtime says the new Marine and Flight Tracking features are now available as premium additions to its platform, with demonstrations available for companies interested in improving shipment visibility and operational efficiency.
