COUNTDOWN TO ‘CLEAN’

Introducing…Eco 2020

2020 Climate Action. ULEZ London 2020. IMO 2020. EU CO2 reduction strategy 2025…it’s easy enough to end up lost in the numbers, acronyms and technical jargon when it comes to emissions reductions.

Most people can agree on one thing: pollution is a problem, and it effects everyone globally regardless of economic or ecological climate. The bitter pill to swallow with this statement, is that we all have an obligation to act, and the transportation industry is no exception.

Government figures from February 2018 revealed that transport is causing the majority of Britain’s greenhouse gas emissions. And it’s not just greenhouse gases that are the problem, as pollution caused by the supply chain also includes water pollution, toxic waste, deforestation and hazardous air emissions. There’s certainly more which can – and undoubtedly will – be done to decrease the environmental impact of the transportation industry.

At FORWARDER, we fully support the drive for a more sustainable supply chain. We travel to trade shows and conferences across the globe, talking to people who work in the industry at all levels. Trades and trends fluctuate, but the issues of sustainability, pollution and energy remain at the forefront of the conversation worldwide.

That’s why, from January 2019, we will be introducing a new section for the magazine: ECO 2020. This 12-month running section of the magazine will showcase the most innovative companies when it comes to sustainability and eco-friendly services.

Ahead of this launch, the team behind FORWARDER has taken a view on sustainability as part of our regional focus on the nation’s capital: London. We will bring you an in-depth review on how companies and local governing bodies in the Greater London region have been tackling this mammoth issue, and interviews with some of the ‘Green Leaders’ in this space.

Are you a Green Leader?

Our readership is made up of companies who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, and take responsibility for their environmental performance.

If your company is optimising your freight delivery routes, shifting to more eco-friendly modes of transport, or electrifying your previously diesel-powered fleet, our readers want to hear from you. From energy-efficient temperature storage solutions, to offsetting emissions, our editorial team is looking to interview the leaders in this space, and promote this new model of the sustainable supply chain.
