Multi-faceted Aquaflow Services has celebrated the arrival of its 100th Mercedes-Benz van by wrapping the landmark vehicle in shimmering gold.

To set the seal on this significant milestone, Kent-based Aquaflow has also acquired and restored a first-generation Sprinter – it is now an exact replica of the company’s original Mercedes-Benz, as purchased in 1999, shortly after it began trading.

Aquaflow operates from a head office in Canterbury and a depot in Erith. It provides a comprehensive portfolio of plumbing, drainage, pump, tanker and mechanical services, as well as undertaking excavations and CCTV surveys.

The gold van was supplied, like almost all of its 99 predecessors, by Dealer Sparshatts Truck & Van. To complement its stunning livery, the fuel-efficient 314 CDI Medium rides on black alloy wheels and sports the personalised registration, MY 100 TH.

Sprinter, Aquaflow

Of the 45 vans on its fleet today, 35 – a combination of Sprinter and Vito models – wear three-pointed stars. “Our very first vehicle was a Sprinter and this model has been the foundation stone on which we’ve grown the company over the best part of two decades,” said founder and Managing Director Keith Borrett, who has over 30 years’ experience in the industry.

“Not only do Mercedes-Benz vans offer outstanding reliability, but we also benefit from the excellent after sales support provided by Sparshatts’ after sales team, with whom I have a fantastic relationship. We offer our customers a round-the-clock service, so the fact that the Dealer’s own workshops remain open outside normal hours is a key benefit, and one that means our vans are always available for work when we need them.”

As previously, Aquaflow acquired the landmark vehicle with competitive funding support from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, which was arranged by Sparshatts’ Van Sales Executive Kay Bartholomew. The operator undertakes much of its work in and around London, and relies particularly on the workshop team at the Dealer’s Dartford branch.

Like most of its Sprinters the gold vehicle is fitted with a high-performance jetting machine for clearing blockages – other vans are specified as mobile CCTV units for surveying drains and sewers. It has been allocated to drainage engineer Neil George, who is based in London’s Docklands, as a reward for the way he has looked after previous vehicles. “We run our vans for three years,” explained Mr Borrett. “When Neil’s come back at the end of the term they’re invariably as clean as the day he took delivery, if not cleaner.”

All Mercedes-Benz vans come with three-year, unlimited mileage warranties and MobiloVan cover, which includes free emergency roadside assistance. Mr Borrett added: “The warranty is comprehensive and reassuring, while on the rare occasions over the last 17 years that we’ve suffered breakdowns a technician has been out to us very quickly. There’s no doubt in my mind that when it comes to back-up, Mercedes-Benz is second-to-none.”
