Journalist Awards 2017

The Annual Seahorse Club Journalist Awards 2017 will be presented at The Seahorse Club Christmas Party on Tuesday, 12 December from 6.30 pm onwards at the The Steel Yard, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, Upper Thames Street, London EC4R 3UL

 

The Award Categories for 2017 are:

The Seahorse Club Journalist of the Year

News Journalist of the Year

Feature Journalist of the Year

Supply Chain Journalist of the Year

Environmental Journalist of the Year

Air Cargo Journalist of the Year

Social Media Journalist of the Year

Award for Journalism on Innovation

 

The Seahorse Club Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist who, in the opinion of the judges, produced the most outstanding contribution to the understanding of global freight transport issues during the course of the last twelve months.  The judges will be looking for a well-structured series of articles on similar or varied subjects displaying journalistic vigour, balanced and objective reporting and clarity of expression.

There will be a first prize of £800 to the winner and £400 to the runner up.  To enter this award, please submit three pieces of your work published during the course of the twelve month period.

Any of these contributions may also be submitted in other award categories.

News Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist who, in the opinion of the judges, delivered a news story that showed conscientious investigation, accurate and balanced reporting and originality of subject matter.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the twelve month period.

Feature Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist who, in the opinion of the judges, produced a carefully researched article on a topic of critical interest to a significant element of the global freight transport industry.  The article must be substantial, original and reveal true insight into the topic.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the course of the twelve month period.

Supply Chain Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist who, in the opinion of the judges, produced an insightful and well-researched article on a topic of relevance to the global supply chain.  In particular the entry should reflect the complex yet critical nature of modern day, international supply chains and the role of transport and logistics companies in serving them.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the course of the twelve-month period.

Environmental Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist contributing an article on an environmental issue effecting any aspect of the global freight transport sector.  The winning entry will, in the opinion of the judges, present the best, most thoroughly researched, incisive in content and which most effectively highlights environmental best practice in the industry.

 

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the course of the twelve-month period.

Air Cargo Journalist of the Year Award

Will be awarded to the journalist working in the air cargo sector, who in the opinion of the judges, contributed the most balanced, timely and well-researched article on a major issue of concern to both suppliers and purchasers of air freight service.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the course of the twelve-month period.

Social Media Journalist of the Year Award

Will recognise the best business use of social media by a journalist in the global freight transport sector.  It will be awarded to an individual who has consistently engaged with the maritime, air cargo, logistics or freight transport community via one or more social media channels providing informative, imaginative and original content and conversation.

In this instance, social media will be recognised as Twitter accounts, LinkedIn profiles and groups, Google+, Facebook business pages, Instagram, Slideshare and YouTube channels.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner.  To enter please send us a link or links to the relevant social media platforms containing evidence of your interaction, original content and comments.

Will be awarded to the journalist contributing an article on an innovative service or product targeted at the maritime, air cargo, logistics or freight transport sector.   The winning entry will be, in the opinion of the judges, the most thoroughly researched, incisive in content and most effective at highlighting innovation in the industry.

There will be a prize of £550 to the winner and £300 to the runner-up.  To enter please submit one piece of your work published during the course of the twelve-month period.
